This is the controversial Pwllfa-watkin landfill site near Cwmgors as seen from the road down Bryn Mawr. The noise from seagulls is incredible.Lookimg down the way we came from A474, passing the landfill site on our right. Steep and narrow road and this time if year black Ice so take care.
Entrance to Lane Way, this is an easy walk but I did trip here and skinned my knee, went down hard but saved my head and the Camera. I had to put up with this banged up knee all day then but did not fall again untill going down into the moat, at Penlle'r Gaer. It was a wet heathland day, think I will join BC and make things easy for myself with R&R at Camp Cosy but then I am an 'Adfywiadwr' or just plain nuts! What am I doing? Look up and Path 1 is along the slag heaps in same direction as Path 2, along Path 1 you can go around Bryn Mawr and end up where Path 3 concludes far preferable than the long haul across the Mountain of Path Three.
Gwuan Cae Gurwen off in the distance.
Looking down on A474 and Gwuan Cae Gurwen.
Outskirts of Gwuan Cae Gurwen and start of the Turbine Road from A474 along which the Turbines will be Transported via Pontardawe from Swansea Docks. NB: This whole area needs to be well posted up with Placards and Baners along the entire route as done so well in Powys and it needs to be done as from now not at the last minute. This is in the Afan - Nedd Area, so Russell what you waiting for, you got the posters go and put them up or is your campaign just another Facebook Fantasy, go on make me eat my words and earn yourself a 'Grey Wolf' patch.
I am calling you on and want you to see this is an ideal route to go along to 'ambush placard protest' the Turbines as they are moved up from A474 and passed Nant-Melyn Farm.
Your now looking down on the Turbine Road just past Nant-Melyn Farm
In the distance Bancbryn up onto which the Turbine Road moves and not much further on will be placed the first Turbine. Note both long distance trails, St Illtud's Way and Gower Way (under Mynydd y Betws) pass thru the intended Windmill Plantation whilst St Illtud's Way (A) crosses over Bancbryn towards where the Turbine Road makes way up it's side. This will be area where Path Ways 1, 2 and 3 meet up. Someone needs to check up about rights of way regards these to long distance trails. Note Tresgyrch Fawr on map.
Get the Picture now? If I had continued along Path A via Banc Cwmhelen I guess I would have reached here and seen where the Turbine Road was heading.
Turbine Road ahead.
Getting Closer.
There we are.
Closer View.
I am not sure what the workings below are, something to do with the Turbine Road development I guess.
Close up view of marked out Turbine Road, not yet being worked on just fenced up and ideal for lots and lots of poster placards, do photograph any handywork you do and post to the web. Note: From here we are in Sir Gar.
This was about a 15 Minute Walk along a reasonable laneway but to get to the otherside one would have to tresspass on Windmill Plantation Property. Maybe a Mass Trespass could be organised some time, pretty symbolic but need to check out the law. Be quite a challenge and publicity wise for the cause, good. Be great to see 100's of Patriots with baners and flags on that skyline yes thinking the below looks to be a Windmill Masters Rorkes Drift, cut it out Gethin! I do remember a Carnival I went to as a Zulu, my Nan spent the morning making me up with Gravy Browning, oh Nan! No don't worry I am not going to suggest something similar, just watch out if I turn up with lots of Sea Gull Feathers and a bag of Gravy Browning?
NB: you do not have to go the way you came, to get to other paths continue driving over the Mountain to catch up with the Mountain Road from Rhyd Y Fro.
